Super ReCOOPERation House
In the fall of 2012, the Super Cooper Little Red Wagon Foundation entered into a financial partnership with Ronald McDonald House of Durham resulting in two dedicated apartments for patients with brain tumors. Each apartment allows a family with children fighting brain cancer to have a place to stay that is close and convenient to Duke University Medical Center. Even though these apartments are a part of the Ronald McDonald House, this partnership allows families of children with brain cancer to have first priority in these units.
In the fall of 2013, the Super Cooper Little Red Wagon Foundation opened the Chapel Hill Super ReCOOPERation House in the Southern Village neighborhood. This two-bedroom, two-bath home provides a spacious and safe, envirmonment for families to relax and feel at home at the end of their day. The house is available for families receiving treatment at both UNC and Duke hospitals. Click here to see photos.
The long-term vision of the Foundation is to raise enough funds to embark on a standalone Super Cooper ReCOOPERation House, which will be able to house multiple families in individual apartment-style units. Offering more than just a roof and a bed, the foundation also assists these families with counseling, support and a sense of community. Our fundraising continues to work to meet this goal and make it a reality.
